1. Read your bye-laws first
Term length, quorum, notice period and electoral rules are all there. Most disputes are settled by what the bye-laws actually say.
2. Demand a General Body Meeting in writing
A requisition signed by the required percentage of members (commonly 1/5th) obliges the committee to convene one.
3. Escalate to the Registrar
If the committee still stalls, complain to the Registrar of Societies / competent authority with your requisition and proof of service.
4. Ask for an administrator or election officer
Where the committee’s term has expired, the authority can appoint an administrator to conduct elections.
5. Document everything
Minutes, notices, acknowledgements. Election disputes are won on paper trails.
